About Me
What to say about me. First; my name. Kevin Schroeder. Since you are probably here about some kind of PHP or Zend-related
topic, I work for Zend Technologies as a Technology Evangelist. Why not a "Zend"
Evangelist? It's quite simple, really. What Zend strives to do is make a positive impact
to the full range of an organization's PHP development and deployment efforts. As such, there
is actually a lot of Zend stuff I can talk about from Zend
Framework to Zend Studio to
Zend Server.
So do I write here simply as a mouthpiece to hawk Zend wares? No. Well, kind of... But not really.
I believe that impacting PHP in a positive way will impact Zend in a positive way. Of course you can expect that there will be a lot about Zend here. But a big reason for that is because there is already a lot of content on the web for PHP. I will do a lot of talking about professional PHP development and because of that there is a lot of crossover with what Zend does as a company. Does that mean that I believe that PHP is deficient in some way in that it shouldn't be used for "professional" development. Not at all! In fact, I don't see the PHP/Zend relationship as competitive at all. But that is something for a post.
I've also done some writing.
I am co-author of "The IBM i Programmer's
Guide to PHP" and I just finished
a new book called "You want to do WHAT with PHP?", which has nothing to do
with the IBM i Series. I'll have a link, of course, when it comes out.
Beyond techy stuff I love music. I've played guitar for almost 20 years. My pride and joy is my Ibanez JS-1000. It's like you're playing on silk; it's that good of a guitar. But enough about me, on with with code.
